Kalmar Automotive showed its project based on the 964 generation coupe. The sports car received a modernized drive from Tesla, a body made of biocomposite based on flax fibers, LED optics, adaptive suspension and upholstery made of soft ElmoSoft leather. The cost of the conversion is 450 thousand euros, or almost 43 million rubles. At the same time, it is reversible, which allows you to return the car to its original power unit if desired.

Restomods based on the Porsche 911 generation 964 (1989-1993) have become commonplace. The first to come to mind are Sportec’s Project Ferdinand, the off-road Singer All-Terrain Competition Study, and Everrati Automotive’s electric coupe, styled as a Carrera 3.8 RSR. Now they can be put in the same row with the 7-97 E-Volt from Denmark’s Kalmar Automotive. The sports car is designed in the R-intake style, inspired by the Porsche 911 R of the late 60s, and uses a modernized drivetrain from a Tesla Model S as a power plant.

The output is 456 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, which is more than the most powerful iteration of the 964, the Turbo S 3.6 (385 hp, 385 lb-ft). The 63-kilowatt-hour battery is mounted above the front axle and, when fully charged, allows you to travel about 124 miles. Acceleration to 100 km/h in the 7-97 E-Volt takes less than four seconds, and filling the battery with direct current from zero to 80 percent takes an hour. A standard 6.6-kilowatt charger will only give you 25 miles in the same amount of time.

Kalmar Automotive assures that they have retained the Porsche weight distribution, but most importantly, they were able to keep the weight within the original. To do this, they had to make the body from a biocomposite, which also reduced harmful emissions from production by 78 percent. The aerodynamics of the external panels were recalculated on a computer and the design of the front air intake was changed. All this improved the aerodynamic balance, reduced the lift on the front axle and reduced the noise of the oncoming wind. The headlights were replaced with LED ones, adaptive suspension and brakes with steel or ceramic discs were added.

Inside, the restomod corresponds to the historical period of the late 80s – early 90s, but only at first glance. There is air conditioning, a media system with Apple CarPlay, an active subwoofer and a rain sensor. ElmoSoft grain leather, obtained by dressing the skins of Scandinavian cows, is used for finishing. Prices for the conversion of a Porsche 964 to a 7-97 E-Volt start at 450 thousand euros, or 42.9 million rubles. The transformation is reversible, which means it requires a minimum of modifications and allows you to painlessly return the original power unit.
