A Chinese analogue of the Ford Galaxy is being sold in Russia

Rossiyskaya Gazeta drew attention to the announcement of the sale of a minivan unknown to most Russians – the Wuling Jiachen, which is in the same class as the mentioned Ford Galaxy. This is a 4.78-meter car, with a 1.5-liter turbo engine, CVT and front-wheel drive. The seller is asking 2,499,900 rubles for a new Chinese minivan—about the same price as the parallel-import Suzuki Ertiga 2023.

Wuling Jiachen, an advertisement for the sale of which was found on Avto.ru, is located at an Irkutsk dealer. This is a minivan that was produced in 2023 in China in a joint venture between the Chinese concern SAIC and the American General Motors. In China, the model in its current form has been sold since the summer of 2022 and is available, in addition to a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 147 horsepower in conjunction with a CVT, with an “aspirated” engine of the same volume and “mechanics”. A more powerful and expensive modification was brought to Russia, but a basic minivan can be purchased in China for 68.8 thousand yuan (almost 900 thousand rubles).

The compact van is based on a front-wheel drive platform with a transverse engine, McPherson-type suspension at the front, and a semi-independent beam at the rear. At the top end, the Jiachen has climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, perforated power-adjustable front seats and a two-tone interior with multiple USB ports. Regardless of the configuration, it is designed for six people – the seating formula is 2+2+2.

If we compare the Chinese compact van with the Russian Largus, the first is more spacious: this is facilitated by a wheelbase of 2.76 meters, a wide (1.82 meters) and high (1.76 meters) body. The useful volume of the double cabin with the seats folded is 1177 liters. The second row seats can be moved longitudinally by 120 millimeters.

Other Wuling models are also brought to Russia, for example, the cheap Mini EV electric car, which this spring could be bought from dealers for about 1.2 million rubles. You can also find advertisements for the sale of Wuling Light on classified sites – this is a cheap single-volume car smaller than a Lada Granta. It costs about 1.5 million rubles.
