The device helps engineers evaluate the noise level and sound quality of various systems. An anthropomorphic module called the Sound Acoustic Module (SAM) is equipped with a variety of special microphones that record a variety of sound parameters of sports cars. In particular, the technology allows engineers to fine-tune the exhaust system so that it does not cause negative emotions to car owners.

According to Porsche experts, the acoustic module contains microphones and sound amplifiers that allow the system to evaluate noise levels of up to 130 decibels. Thus, SAM can perceive almost any sound – from engine operation to button clicks in the cabin.

The company uses the anthropomorphic head as a mobile laboratory during test drives. During testing, specialists compare their own “audio sensations” from the operation of certain systems with the analysis collected by SAM. As a result, engineers achieve the ideal sound in sports cars, which is becoming increasingly important against the backdrop of the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

At the end of last year, Porsche made it possible to listen to the sound of the engine of the 911 GT3 R Rennsport sports car. The machine unit produces 620 horsepower.
