Photos of the car were published on social networks by the August Horch Museum in Zwickau. According to The Drive, the model was supposed to be a road version of Leman’s R18 e-tron. Moreover, the supercar was going to be equipped with a diesel-electric power plant. Despite plans for mass production, only the design layout remained from Scorpio.

The Audi Scorpion was developed as an analogue of the Porsche GT1 Strassenversion and Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. At the same time, the brand planned to equip the supercar with a diesel-electric power plant with a total capacity of about 700 horsepower. The model could receive aerodynamic body elements that were used in sports cars participating in the DTM championship.

The Scorpio was supposed to be a mid-engine coupe with large wheel arches, a miniature cockpit, advanced aerodynamic elements and a massive wing. Ten years ago, engineers planned to produce 333 flagship supercars. However, the project was never implemented.

Last April, American tuners showed the Honda S2000 version of the Type R. A restomod that never existed was prepared for the 25th anniversary of the production roadster.
