A new domestic brand of trucks will appear in Russia

According to Interfax, trucks of the new brand will be assembled at the former Volvo plant in the Kaluga region, the sale of which has been closed. The buyer of the assets of Stokov Machinery Equipment JSC (formerly Volvo Vostok) was AMO JSC (Automobile Motor Company), registered in early October by the Industrial Investments group of companies. The owner of the site intends to restart the plant before the New Year.

“A new chapter begins in the history of not only the plant in Kaluga, but also for the entire Russian automobile industry,” Andrei Alexandrov, general director of the Industrial Investments Group, told the agency. “Another Russian participant will appear on the country’s map, producing new domestic trucks.” He clarified that the plant will produce trucks “in partnership with Russian and Chinese automakers,” and they plan to sell them under a new brand.

The company has already begun temporary assembly of a large-capacity Russian off-road truck; the first vehicles will roll off the assembly line by the end of November. And during December, the plant will increase production from one to three cars per shift. The new owner of the site noted that for those employees who are not involved in the first stage of restarting production, “employment options are offered from industrial partners and job fairs from recruitment agencies are organized.”

Interfax, with reference to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, reports that Industrial Investments JSC with an authorized capital of 200 thousand rubles was registered in Moscow in May of this year. The owners of the company are not indicated. Earlier, information appeared that Industrial Investments is associated with businessman Dmitry Strezhnev, the actual owner of the Ural plant.
