The two-wheeled Aurus may appear on free sale at the end of 2024 or at the beginning of 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov told Russia-24 at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). During this period, it is planned to “gradually introduce” the motorcycle to the market, he specified, adding that the Merlon will appear as part of the motorcade for officials in May next year.
The peak output of the Aurus Merlon electric motor should be 190 horsepower (350 Nm), the battery capacity should be 21 kilowatt-hours. The motorcycle will be able to travel about 200 kilometers without recharging and accelerate from zero to the first “hundred” in 3.7 seconds. The maximum speed will be 200 kilometers per hour.
The list of equipment will include a drive mode selector, heated grips and seats, ABS, an electrically adjustable windshield and a digital instrument panel. Merlon will be able to function at temperatures down to -25 degrees Celsius. In winter, it can be equipped with a stroller with an additional battery to preserve the power reserve.
In January, Aurus Merlon project manager Evgeny Torzhenov reported that motorcycle production would begin in 2024. By the end of the year, it was planned to begin assembling Merlon at the facilities of FSUE NAMI in small series and releasing it for free sale as the Senat sedan and the Komendant crossover.
In August, Aurus released a secret special version of the Senat called Aurora. Only 10 of these sedans will be produced, and they will cost from 44 million rubles – that is, 4.5-6 million more expensive than the regular Senat. The Aurora will be distinguished from it by its chocolate-colored body combined with anthracite wheels and a light brown interior.
