For some, woodworking may be a waste of time, but not for one Vietnamese who handcrafted a wooden Ford F-150 Raptor as a gift for a loved one.
Tuong Van Dao is a woodworker who showcases his creativity on his YouTube channel ND – Woodworking Art. His attention to detail is exemplary, and the final result looks close to the real, albeit slightly scaled down, car.
Dao said he built a wooden F-150 Raptor as a gift for his father-in-law, a war veteran who uses an old bike for his daily commute. After his father-in-law found it difficult to drive a two-wheeled vehicle, Tao came up with the idea to build a wooden F-150 Raptor that his father-in-law could ride in more comfort.
This is not the first wooden car of the Vietnamese carpenter. Previously, he built a replica of the Ferrari 250 GTO. This time, the process began with the creation of a steel chassis, which became the basis of the entire project. It includes springs and springs, almost like a real car. He then installed a 2,500-watt electric motor to power the pickup truck.
Next, wooden blocks are installed on the chassis, from which everything superfluous is cut off with a chainsaw to achieve a shape similar to the original car. Everything is done with maximum precision and functionality. For example, the wooden side mirrors can be adjusted just like in a conventional car.
The interior of the pickup truck is also made of wood with great precision. After the carpentry work is completed, all parts are processed with a grinder and covered with three layers of varnish that protects the wood from cracking.
