The Russian company AGR Automotive Group, the new owner of the Volkswagen plants in Kaluga and Hyundai in St. Petersburg, has registered a new Agron trademark. This move hints at the auto giant’s plans to launch a new line of cars under its own brand.

According to the documentation, the Agron trademark covers a wide range of products, including vehicles. However, details about the upcoming new product have not yet been disclosed. It is unknown which models will be produced under this brand and where their production will be established. AGR became the new owner of the Russian assets of Volkswagen and Hyundai after the departure of the German and South Korean automakers from the country. Since then, the company has been actively working to restart assembly sites.

At the end of February 2024, the assembly of cars under the Solaris brand, including HS and KRS sedans, KRX hatchbacks and HC crossovers, had already started at the former Hyundai plant. According to dealers, these “refaced” models are in high demand among buyers. Now, with the registration of the new Agron brand, AGR can prepare to introduce completely new models of its own design to the market. (photo: AGR)

In turn, the head of AvtoVAZ said that Russian officials will not have a shortage of Russian-made cars. The Togliatti automaker is ready to fully meet the needs of officials for new cars for the bureaucratic apparatus.
