Alfa Romeo is preparing a new electric supercar in retro style

In the summer of 2023, Alfa Romeo showed the model 33 Stradale – a limited-edition supercar created in retro style, the Italian automaker is positioning itself as the last new car in the history of the brand with an internal combustion engine. And despite the fact that the version with an electric motor is not in demand among Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale buyers, the company does not intend to deviate from its intended course. The circulation of the new supercar will be limited and will not exceed 50 copies.

In an interview with Autocar, Alfa Romeo’s head of strategic projects, Cristiano Fiorio, confirmed that the Italian automaker offered its customers a wide range of models from the 1960s and 1970s from which to choose candidates for revival today. It is stated that four cars received the maximum number of votes from potential buyers.

The new supercar is expected to draw inspiration from the 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ, 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ, 1970 Alfa Romeo Montreal and the 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo concept car. According to Fiorio, we are talking about iconic models of the past, and they do not necessarily have to be production – a modern supercar can be built based on a concept car.

“The first car turned out to be a really good experience for us, for Alfisti, and for our customers. And we realized that we wanted to continue this story. We asked 33 Stradale buyers and those who missed out on the supercar: “Perhaps you will be the owner of the next model. “What kind of car would you like to see?” said Alfa Romeo chief designer Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos. Alfa Romeo noted that such projects are not a source of income for the company, but serve as an opportunity to increase the value of the brand in the eyes of customers.
