It will be available in two power options – 180 or 220 horsepower, will receive a recalibrated suspension from Renault 5, a more aggressive appearance and a modernized interior with a push-button transmission selector on the center console. The model will be equipped with 26 electronic safety systems, Brembo brakes and, for the first time in the history of the brand, a 615-watt Devialet audio system with spatial sound function.

The first all-electric Alpine model is unified with the Renault 5. The cars have a common platform, suspension schemes, and design, although there are also plenty of differences. For example, for the sake of better stability, the track has been widened and anti-roll bars have been replaced. A custom aluminum front subframe, to which the entire electric drive is attached, helped achieve ideal weight distribution, and hydraulic bump stops increased comfort. The appearance remained virtually unchanged. The hatchback can be identified mainly by its sculpted bumpers and front optics with X’s.

The interior architecture of the A290 also resembles the Renault 5, but there are a number of innovations here too. Among them is a three-spoke steering wheel with a zero mark, complemented by “washers” for selecting the level of recovery and switching between driving profiles (there are four in total – Normal, Sport, Save and Personal). The transmission selector has moved from the steering column to the center console, so its place is taken by a red lever with the letters OV, which activates the boost mode. The hatchback’s seats have reinforced side bolsters and can be upholstered in recycled textiles or nappa leather.

The electric car is equipped with launch control, an Alpine Drive Sound sound synthesizer with two preset sound profiles, a digital cluster (10.25-inch instrument panel, 10.1-inch main screen), a Devialet audio system (for the first time in Alpine history) and 26 electronic assistants. These include adaptive cruise control, a function for safely opening doors and changing lanes, which sees not only cars, but also motorcycles. Of course, there is an emergency braking system, and also a My Safety Switch, with which you can change the settings of the assistance electronics with one click.

The Alpine A290 power plant, depending on the version, produces either 180 horsepower and 285 Nm of torque, or 220 horsepower and 330 Nm, allowing it to accelerate to the first hundred in 7.4 or 6.4 seconds, respectively. There is one battery with a capacity of 52 kilowatt-hours. It supports bidirectional charging and provides up to 380 kilometers of range in the WLTP cycle. You can fill the battery from 15 to 80 percent in half an hour – but for this you need at least a 100-watt terminal. At launch, the hatchback will be offered in GT, GT Premium, GT Performance and GTS versions, as well as a limited GTS Premiere Edition, which will include Beta variants in the spirit of the A290_β show car, La Grise (in Tornado Matte Gray) and La Bleue (Alpine Vision Blue).
