American Volkswagen Jetta and Jetta GLI updated

Yes, Volkswagen sedans still exist! Proof of this is the Volkswagen Jetta for the US market, which has just received a portion of updates.

The easiest way to recognize the new Volkswagen Jetta is by the design of its optics. The headlights now taper towards the center of the car and look somewhat pointed, while the taillights are now connected by a solid red insert on the trunk lid. In addition, the front bumper and grille have been changed, and new wheel options and colors have been added, including rich blue and light gray.

Inside, the updated Jetta features a new front panel layout: a separately installed central display, a touch-sensitive climate control unit (instead of the previously mechanical one), the area in front of the passenger is now made with several longitudinal stripes, and the ventilation deflectors have become hidden.

The updated Volkswagen Jetta sedan is offered exclusively with a 1.5-liter 160-horsepower TSI petrol engine. The standard equipment now comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, chosen by most buyers, but you will have to pay extra for a manual transmission. Drive exclusively to the front wheels.

Along with the main model, the sports version of the Volkswagen Jetta GLI was also updated: similar narrowed headlights and combined lights, but an original red insert appeared on the front bumper, and a sports exhaust system with separated pipes appeared at the rear.

Under the hood of the Volkswagen Jetta GLI there is already a 2-liter 230-horsepower TSI gasoline engine installed, which can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DGS robotic gearbox. Plus an electronically controlled differential in the front wheel drive and a more effective sports brake hidden behind black 18-inch wheels.

The cost of the updated Volkswagen Jetta is already known – from $21,995 and this is slightly more than its predecessor. But taking into account the non-alternative automatic transmission (for which you previously had to pay extra), it turns out that the Volkswagen Jetta sedan has even become somewhat cheaper.
