Volvo is having another problem with the launch of its long-awaited EX90 electric crossover in the United States. Production of the model was launched late, the start of sales was pushed back, and now it turns out that the company does not have time to complete the cars before shipments to customers begin. Those who have already ordered the EX90 received a letter from Volvo with a list of options that will not be available for the electric car for the first time.
The letter sent by the Swedish brand states that the functionality of the very first EX90 is limited – they will not have some comfort options and electronic assistants. Missing features include cross-traffic alert, cornering assist, wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, bi-directional charging and LiDAR integration. There will also be no option to choose a theme for the digital dashboard and multimedia system screen.

All of the above are promised to be unlocked with the upcoming operating system update, but it is not specified when it will become available. It is also noted that some cars do not have over-the-air updates, so car owners will have to take their EX90 to a dealer.
In addition, future owners were warned that the electric car may discharge even when parked if it is not connected to a charger – in this case, the battery will lose up to three percent of its charge per day. They promise to fix this too.
Serial production of the Volvo EX90, which had been postponed several times for various reasons, was launched at the plant in Charleston, USA, in early June. Deliveries will begin in the second half of the year. The problems with the launch of the model were related, among other things, to the development of the software for the new platform, which took longer than expected.
