The Russian company believes that Vesta, equipped with a 1.8 Evo engine and a Chinese CVT, will be able to compete with Geely Coolray, Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and Haval Jolion. The strange thing is that the Vesta SW Cross is still a station wagon, albeit with ground clearance increased to 203 millimeters, and all three listed Chinese models belong to the crossover segment.

Despite the difference in segments, Vesta SW Cross is superior to Coolray, Tiggo 4 Pro and Jolion in some respects. Thus, the ground clearance of the station wagon is 23 millimeters higher than that of the Geely crossover, and 13 millimeters higher than that of the Chery and Haval models. The trunk volume is also larger: for the Vesta station wagon it is 480 liters, for the Coolray – 330 liters, for the Tiggo 4 Pro – 340 liters, and for the Jolion – 337 liters.

Vesta is cheaper than its competitors: prices start from 1,940,900 rubles, while the pre-restyling Geely Coolray can be bought for at least 2,344,990 rubles, Chery Tiggo 4 Pro – for 2,220,000 rubles (for the version with a CVT), and Haval Jolion – for 2 299,000 rubles (with a “robot”). In addition to all of the above, the maintenance interval for Vesta SW Cross is 15 thousand kilometers, while most competitors have 10 years.

A few days earlier, competitors of the Lada Vesta sedan with a combination of a 1.8-liter engine with 122 horsepower and a continuously variable transmission were listed: these are Geely Emgrand, Omoda S5, BAIC U5 Plus and Changan Alsvin. As in the case of the Cross station wagon, Vesta with a sedan body is cheaper than all of them – prices for it start at 1,588,900 rubles.

AvtoVAZ launched sales of the Lada Vesta NG with a 122-horsepower 1.8 Evo engine and a Chinese CVT in early March. The new power unit has undergone a series of tests, both laboratory and on the road: Vesta with such a combination of engine and gearbox has improved elasticity in all speed ranges and dynamics in the city and on the highway by 20 percent. As Motor reported, at the end of 2024 or at the beginning of 2025, another option with the 1.8 Evo engine will appear in the range – with a manual transmission, and a six-speed one.
