In a new race in a straight line, bloggers pitted two Nissan coupes from different eras – the legendary Skyline GT-R of the R34 generation fought on a straight line with the newest coupe of the modern Z family. The result was quite a spectacular battle between two generations of a sports car from the same manufacturer, but different models.
Released in 1999, the Skyline GT-R V-Spec features a 280-horsepower 2.6-liter inline-6 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive. A Nissan R34 weighs a little over one and a half tons, which is not bad for a car from the end of the last millennium.
The modern Z model of 2023 is expected to be heavier – more than 1,600 kilograms – but also more powerful. Nissan engineers removed 400 horsepower from the 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.
