The press service of the Deepal brand shared official renderings of the car with the factory index G318. “Daughter” Changan refrained from commenting on technology. There are two points of view: either Deepal is preparing a frame car a la Tank and Fang Cheng Bao, or under the brutal appearance there is a crossover with a monocoque body: a rival to the Jetour Traveler and Haval Dargo.
The Deepal brand is very young, and previously it was called Shenlan. Judging by the prototype photos, the G318 all-terrain vehicle will be closer in technology to the Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 5: this is hinted at by the independent rear suspension. In terms of size and price, the new Changan is comparable to the Tank 500: the SUV is predicted to have a five-meter body and a price of 300 thousand yuan ($42 thousand).

Among the expected functions is a “tank” turn, which means the all-wheel drive system will be electric. It cannot be ruled out that the Deepal G318 will be partially unified with the Changan hybrid pickup: the commonality is hinted at by the frame architecture and power plant with a gasoline engine as a generator and a pair of electric motors.
Judging by the official renderings, the Deepal G318 will first be presented as a concept car close to the series, and the production version will be delayed. In Russia, cars of the new sub-brand Changan may appear officially, but hardly this year. “White” deliveries of premium electric vehicles of the Avatr brand are planned for 2024.
