Changan may launch a new sub-brand Deepal in Russia

The company spoke about plans to launch the Deepal brand in foreign markets: in 2024 it is planned to sell up to 450 such machines. The first foreign market for Deepal will be Thailand, where new products will go on sale in December. And next year, electric models may reach Russia. For now, Deepal is represented only in China, where electric cars in the mass segment are sold under this name – the SL03 liftback and the S7 crossover.

According to the Chinese Cars portal, Deepal’s export plans cover the markets of Europe and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Russia is also included in them – Deepal can officially begin to be sold in our country, as well as models from other sub-brands of Changan: Avatr, Qiyuan and Kaicene.

So far, the Deepal model line consists of the SL03 liftback and the S7 crossover. The first will change its original name to the export L07, but otherwise will remain the same as in China (except for the steering wheel layout for the Thai market). The liftback is equipped with a 258-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, which is powered by a battery with a capacity of 66.8 kilowatt-hours. On one charge, the L07/SL03 travels up to 540 kilometers.

The S7 crossover will be called S07 outside of China. It belongs to the class of mid-size SUVs and is equipped with the same power plant as the liftback. Its range is 485 kilometers. The company’s plans for 2024 include the launch of two more models.
