The battery-powered muscle car, introduced in March, needs some work, Mopar Insiders found out after reviewing the information sent to dealers. The “live” premiere and start of sales will be delayed by at least 90 days, and the reason for this decision is problems with power electronics discovered during test runs.

Accepting orders for the Dodge Charger Daytona is closed, and the presentation of the car, originally scheduled for May, has been postponed to August. Insiders believe it will be timed to coincide with Michigan Speed Week, which is scheduled to open on August 16, 2024.

Engineers reported that several electronics problems surfaced during testing. The electric car is promised driving modes for drifting and donuts, launch control, a Line Lock function for warming up the rear tires before the start, and strategies for preparing the battery for drag racing or the track.
