Electric station wagon Opel Astra Sports Tourer fails the “moose test”

Journalists from km77 tested the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer wagon, which was challenged with the traditional “moose test”. As part of the tests, the car must abruptly change lanes – as if meeting a real animal – into the next lane and back. The German electric car failed to perform this maneuver at a speed of 77 kilometers per hour. The speed was below the qualifying threshold, but this did not disappoint the experts.

The test car was an electric Astra Sports Tourer Electric, equipped with a 156-horsepower powertrain and all-wheel drive – this is the only version of the electric car of this model. The test Opel was shod with 18-inch Michelin ePrimacy tires.

The station wagon failed to complete the test exercise at a speed of 77 kilometers per hour—the German model was able to stay in the corridor of cones in the “moose test” only at 71 kilometers per hour. But experts noted that the car’s behavior is not satisfactory and allows the average driver to feel safe behind the wheel.
