The American agency Consumer Reports surveyed used car owners and found out how satisfied they were with their vehicles. Asian automakers dominate: 16 out of 36 positions in the rating were taken by Toyota and Lexus, while European and American brands took two or three lines: BMW, Volvo, GMC and Lincoln stood out. Reliable models were found in every segment – from sports cars to pickups.

The 2021 model segment is attractive because the mileage is relatively low, and lessors or owners monitor regular maintenance and the condition of the interiors. In the compact category, the leaders were the Honda Civic, Mazda3, Toyota Prius and Corolla. Among business sedans, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry and Avalon receive the least criticism. Premium sedans include the BMW 5-Series, Lexus ES and Acura TLX.

The sports car segment is represented by the lone Mazda MX-5. The largest selection among mid-size crossovers: there is Acura RDX, BMW X3, Honda CR-V and HR-V, Toyota RAV4, Volvo XC40, Subaru Crosstrek and Forester, Mazda CX-5, Lexus UX and NX, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage.

In the midsize crossover category, the best-reviewed cars are the Honda Passport and Pilot, Lexus RX, Lincoln Nautilus, Toyota 4Runner, Highlander and Venza, and GMC Acadia. Finally, there are no traditional trucks in the pickup truck category: satisfied customers voted for the Ford Ranger, Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Tacoma and Tundra.
