Ford is at it again, resurrecting another iconic model name from the past to help generate excitement for a new electric vehicle. This time, the Capri name has been resurrected for an electric coupe SUV based on the European Explorer compact crossover.

Naturally, the designers tried to give the new 4.6-meter Ford Capri crossover the style of the famous coupe. For example, it is worth noting the characteristic line of the side windows with a rounding at the back, the aerodynamically falling roof line with a smooth transition to the trunk lid, double headlights (by the way, matrix) and a dark insert between them.

The new Ford Capri electric crossover is based on the VW MEB platform, as both companies once signed a cooperation agreement. Therefore, the basic version of the Ford Capri has a rear-wheel drive: one electric motor produces 210 kW or 286 hp and promises acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. This electric crossover is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 77 kW⋅h – this should be enough for a power reserve of up to 627 km.

In addition, a Ford Capri with two electric motors and all-wheel drive has already been promised. In this case, you can count on a power of 250 kW or 340 hp and acceleration to “hundreds” in 5.3 seconds. However, even with the use of a slightly increased battery with a capacity of 79 kW h, energy consumption is somewhat higher, and the power reserve, accordingly, is somewhat less – a maximum of up to 592 km.

The new Ford Capri’s interior is dominated by a 14.6-inch vertical display. It can be hidden, as it is movable and can be pulled out from the center console. In addition, the Ford Capri has room for an additional driver’s display and a huge center console that can accommodate a 15-inch tablet.

The maximum configuration of the electric car will offer seats with massage, a premium B&O audio system, heated steering wheel and seats. In addition, the new Ford Capri promises excellent practicality – a full 5-seater interior and a trunk with a volume of 572 liters.

Sales of the new Ford Capri electric car will begin soon, the starting price in Europe is already known: from 51 thousand euros. Although the Ford Capri crossover with all-wheel drive and in the maximum configuration will probably reach all 60 thousand euros.
