Genesis X Gran Racer Vision GT Ready to Take to Virtual Race Tracks

Genesis has unveiled a racing version of last year’s X Gran Berlinetta concept, featuring more aggressive aerodynamics and a significant increase in power. An advanced hypercar called the Genesis X Gran Racer Vision GT Concept is the crown jewel of the Korean brand’s recently launched Magma program.

The new concept debuted at the 2024 Busan International Mobility Show as the fourth Genesis developed for the Gran Turismo video game series. The virtual supercar retains the sculpted body of the original X Gran Berlinetta, but gains different aerodynamic elements.

The front end now boasts a more prominent splitter and carbon canards. At the rear there is a much larger diffuser and a massive wing with a central fin and built-in LEDs.

Unpainted carbon fiber parts provide a striking contrast to the signature Magma color. Finally, there is a new set of wheels with a center nut and aerodynamic discs up front.

The interior has also been updated with elements from the world of motorsports. Most surfaces are covered in Alcantara, there are carbon fiber parts and an updated gear selector. Genesis also added a new steering wheel with integrated controls that allow the driver to quickly adjust the chassis settings.

Finally, an integrated safety cage, a roll bar behind the headrests and stronger cross beams in the doors improve safety on the virtual track.

The Genesis X Gran Berlinetta has already demonstrated hypercar-level performance with a combined output of 1,071 hp. (799 kW) and 1337 Nm of torque from a hybrid power plant with a V6. However, that wasn’t enough for the Genesis X Gran Racer Vision GT, which boasts an even more impressive 1,540 hp. (1133 kW) and 1427 Nm of torque.

The increase in power is made possible by an upgraded electric motor, which now produces 670 hp (499 kW), up from 201 hp (150 kW) in the previous concept. The Lambda II V6 engine, mounted in the center of the chassis, maintains its output of 870 hp (649 kW), supported by an electric supercharger.

Like the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta, the X Gran Racer was created purely as a design study. This means that you will only be able to control it in the Gran Turismo video game on the PlayStation console. However, these hypercar concepts are expected to influence the design of future Genesis models and could even pave the way for a new Halo model in the not-too-distant future.
