As vehicles age, they often lose some of their efficiency, resulting in increased fuel consumption and reduced engine power. Many car owners visit service centers in search of a solution to these problems, but are disappointed when the problem persists. However, there is a simple and economical solution that the car owner can do on their own. Experts told how to improve engine performance and save on fuel consumption for just 100 rubles.

For many used car owners, the annoying situation of high fuel consumption and noisy engines is all too familiar. Determining the exact cause can be difficult, and unscrupulous mechanics may try to take advantage of the situation. However, the problem may not always be as serious as it seems, and with a little knowledge and effort, it can be dealt with effectively.

One of the common causes of reduced engine performance and increased fuel consumption is a dirty or clogged mass air flow sensor. This sensor, usually located behind the air filter housing, plays a critical role in assessing the amount of air entering the engine for combustion. When it becomes dirty or clogged with dirt, dust or moisture, it can send incorrect readings to the engine control unit.

Cleaning the mass air flow sensor is a simple and inexpensive process. All you need is carburetor cleaner, alcohol, or any other suitable technical cleaning fluid. Avoid using excessive force, but you can gently clean the sensor with a cotton swab. The main purpose is to remove carbon deposits that may have formed on the sensor’s platinum threads. Cleaning products will take no more than a hundred rubles.
