Hybrid Porsche 911 Carrera GTS duels regular 911 Carrera GTS

In 2024, the first ever hybrid sports car Porsche 911 appeared – as part of the restyling of the 911 Carrera GTS received a T-Hybrid power plant, which included the famous opposed gasoline turbo engine with an electric turbocharger and an electric motor integrated into the gearbox. Blogger Matt Watson brought the new model together in a race with its predecessor to find out how much faster the gasoline-electric modification is than the coupe with a classic internal combustion engine.

The pre-restyling Porsche 911 Carrera GTS coupe is equipped with a 480-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo engine producing 570 Nm, an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. This car weighs 1545 kilograms.

The sports car was driven in the race by the former Formula 1 pilot and current Porsche brand ambassador, Australian Mark Webber. The blogger chose the updated model with hybrid units.

The 3.6-liter boxer with an electric turbocharger and an electric motor integrated into the gearbox produces 541 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. This model weighs 1,595 kilograms. On paper, the rear-wheel drive 911 Carrera GTS of the 992.2 generation accelerates in exactly 3 seconds, and the pre-reform 911 Carrera 4 GTS in 3.3 seconds, but how will everything work out in real conditions?
