In 2024, three new models of the Chinese brand GAC will appear in Russia

The Russian representative office of the company shared details about what kind of cars Russians should expect: in the first half of the year, the premium M8 minivan and the second-generation GS3 crossover will be launched, and in the second, an as yet unnamed model of the SUV segment. According to unofficial data, the third new product could be the youth crossover Emkoo.

Let’s start with two already confirmed models. The first is the 5.2-meter single-box M8 (aka GS8), which the company itself calls premium. The second-generation M8 is currently on sale in China, with several powertrain options including a hybrid. In Russia, most likely, you should expect a regular gasoline modification with a 2.0-liter engine producing 252 horsepower coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The M8 will be offered in Russia in three trim options and four body colors. Sales will start in March 2024, and, apparently, this model will replace the current GS8. As the Chinese Cars portal found out, the M8 is already undergoing the certification procedure for the Russian market.

Next, in the second quarter of next year (April-June), the second-generation GS3 compact crossover will appear at GAC dealers. Its feature is an unusual “angular” body design with bright accents and a frameless, voluminous radiator grille. The GS3 is based on the Global Platform Modular Architecture (GPMA) and is powered by a 177-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Finally, another GAC model will appear in the third quarter (July-September). The official release of the brand says only that “it has the potential to become a leader in its class.” With a high degree of probability, we are talking about Emkoo – this youth crossover debuted in China last year and in the home market is available with both 1.5 and 2.0 liter gasoline engines, and with a hybrid installation. The model’s equipment list includes a panoramic roof, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control and a Yamaha audio system.
