Infiniti has declassified the harbinger of the new generation QX80

At the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the concept QX Monograph premiered, heralding the upcoming generation change of Infiniti’s largest model, the QX80 full-size crossover. By the appearance of the QX Monograph show car, we can conclude that the serial QX80 is expected to undergo significant changes in the exterior design – a new glazing line, a radiator grille with a different pattern and a completely revised optics.

The QX Monograph has different body proportions than the current QX80: it looks both massive and more dynamic than the serial crossover. Alfonso Albaisa, the chief designer of the brand, demonstrates a new stage in the development of corporate style, the characteristic features of which are the front optics, located in two levels, and the radiator grill, symbolizing, as they say in Infiniti, “the splendor of the bamboo forest”. The glazing line was also completely revised, and the chrome on the body gave way to black gloss.

At the back, a solid multi-section monolight appeared, which is designed in the form of piano keys – running lights are made in a similar style. When locking and unlocking the doors, they give out a welcome animation. Another innovation of the QX Monograph is the updated Infiniti logo, which, contrary to the general trend, has become three-dimensional and has acquired backlighting.

The interior of the Infiniti crossover has not been declassified. There is no information about the technical characteristics of the car. Earlier it was reported that with the change of generation, the QX80 could move to a new platform, and in the engine range, the “aspirated” V8 would be replaced by a V6. Whether this is so will become known in about six months.

In the meantime, the second-generation Infiniti QX80 is on the market – it has been in production for 13 years, and during this time it has only been updated twice, in 2015 and 2018. Until the spring of last year, the model was officially sold in Russia, and already in November, Infiniti announced its withdrawal from our market.
