The Korean brand has published images of the A-segment electric crossover, which is a “battery” version of the small Casper. In addition, Hyundai revealed some details: the Inster, designed to compete with the Dacia Spring, turned out to be larger than the Casper, and its range will have two power plants. Sales will begin in South Korea, after which the new product will appear in other markets – in Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Hyundai Inster is 23 centimeters longer than the fuel-powered Casper, and its wheelbase is 18 centimeters longer. The electric car is 3.83 meters long, 1.61 meters wide, and 1.58 meters high with a 2.58-meter wheelbase. The trunk holds at least 280 liters, but the seatbacks that fold into the floor will significantly increase the volume. They all fold, including the driver’s seat.

The base crossover is equipped with an electric motor producing 97 horsepower (147 Nm of torque). It is paired with a battery with a capacity of 42 kilowatt-hours, providing more than 300 kilometers of range.

Despite its modest size, the Inster has a fairly extensive list of equipment: it has adaptive cruise control, all-round cameras, a compartment for wireless charging of smartphones. Also offered are heated steering wheel and front seats, a lane departure warning function and a sunroof, as well as a Vehicle-to-Load function, thanks to which the car can be used to power any electrical devices. In the cabin, there are a pair of 10.25-inch displays, which are standard for an electric car.

Hyundai will reveal other details, as well as the cost of the crossover, closer to the start of sales. It is expected to be below $20,000. Later, Inster will get a version with the Cross prefix.
