It became known about the ban on the sale of Zeekr electric cars in the Republic of Belarus

A few days earlier, it was reported that the Chinese brand Zeekr, owned by Geely, informed dealers about the ban on the sale of its models on the Russian market. Now the Belarusian portal Onliner Auto, with reference to the company Westmotors, which supplies cars from China to the Republic of Belarus, writes that they also received a notification from Chinese partners: from July 1, the purchase and delivery of electric cars through parallel import will become impossible.

It is worth noting that Zeekr is not officially represented in Russia and electric vehicles are supplied through individuals. As for Belarus, in mid-March the portal “Chinese Cars” reported that cars of this brand began to be supplied to the country through official channels. They are sold at a Minsk dealership; these cars have a multimedia system translated into Russian, they are adapted for the local climate and are covered by a warranty of two years or 100 thousand kilometers.

According to the Zeekr.by website, all four models of the brand are represented on the Belarusian market: 001, 007, X and 009.

Onliner Auto reports in its telegram channel that “it is not yet known what will happen next.” “Perhaps there will be other options for purchase and delivery, or it may turn out that the ban is just a PR move,” a Westmotors representative told reporters. When asked about the risks of importing and purchasing Zeekr electric vehicles produced after the first of July, the company suggested that the automaker could “turn off multimedia.”

Earlier, Russian dealers also spoke out about this situation. At Avilon, which, among others, sells Zikr, they doubted that there was a ban on the sale of cars at all. Another seller suggested that the possible ban was motivated by “a desire to show that Zeekr is committed to growing the brand in global markets.” And in “Rolf” they recalled that now electric cars can only be imported into Russia by individuals, and in this case it is not clear how the right of the Chinese to buy a car from a dealer and resell it to someone else can be limited.
