Italdesign studio presented the two-faced Quintessenza concept at the Beijing Auto Show

The electric car is both a GT car and a pickup truck, and its wheelbase is longer than that of the BMW i7. There are four seats in the cabin. The rear seats can be rotated to admire the stars or the sunset. The show car’s interior is finished in marbled fabric and showcases the best examples of technology integration, collectively known as shy tech.

The Italdesign Quintessenza concept car embraces the ideas of “flexibility, freedom, sportiness and duality.” With a wheelbase longer than the electric BMW i7, the coupe seats up to four people and transforms from a comfortable gran turismo into a pickup truck. To do this, you just need to remove the hard section of the roof above the trunk. In “truck” mode, the rear seats can be rotated 180 degrees, similar to the Viewing Suite on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. A folding door with a servo drive will provide convenient disembarkation/landing.

The Quintessenza interior features minimalism, so beloved by many manufacturers. The central part of the front panel of the show car is trimmed with “marble” fabric. On it, as necessary, control buttons for multimedia and climate control appear. Various types of auxiliary information (compass, warnings, etc.) are displayed on the display under the windshield. Well, right below it, using the same projection, navigation maps are displayed. The Quintessenza does not have a dashboard – its role is played by a smartphone installed in a docking station on the steering wheel.

The entire UX/UI here is based on the never lost concept, which is described as “connecting passengers with the outside space.” At every single moment in time, the car knows where it is and how long it will take to get to its destination. Information about points of interest along the route and the surrounding environment is displayed using projectors throughout the cabin, so those who are afraid of getting lost have no reason to worry.

The Quintessenza concept is equipped with 24-inch wheels, active aerodynamics and a set of electronic assistants. The power plant is three-motor: one installed in the front, two in the rear. Total power is 789 horsepower. The car accelerates from zero to 60 mph in less than three seconds, and has a range of 750 kilometers (battery capacity is 150 kilowatt-hours). For trips into nature, a significant advantage will be decent ground clearance, which varies in the range of 200-280 millimeters.
