In Naberezhnye Chelny, at a meeting of the Board of Directors, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, and the Raisa of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, were shown the latest developments of the auto giant. There are no details, but in the photos and videos, one can see three-axle tractors, all-wheel drive dump trucks, and four-axle KAMAZ chassis with the current K5 cabin. Mass production of such trucks is expected this year.

KamAZ assembled the first domestic automatic machine for heavy trucks

Back in March, KAMAZ admitted that the heavy dump trucks and tractors “6595”, “65951” and “65952” would go into production this year, but the plant expects to reach daily production of 220 K5 family vehicles by the fourth quarter. The delegation was shown a chassis with an 8×8 wheel arrangement, a 6×6 all-wheel drive dump truck and a 6×6 tractor, as well as a three-axle tractor with a simplified K5 cabin and a “slouch”: a lifting third axle.

Variants of mainline tractors with a narrow cabin, low roof and one berth are on the way: such trucks with the index “54902” have a Chinese automated transmission Fast Gear, and under the hood a localized Cummins turbodiesel under the name KamAZ-689.510. It is expected that the simplified KamAZ K5 will be noticeably cheaper than the flagship without compromising traction capabilities.

KamAZ revealed the appearance of the futuristic tractor from the 2030 strategy

The entire KAMAZ K5 line was first shown in December 2019, but it did not go beyond small-scale production, and then sanctions intervened, and the plant had to transfer the trucks to a new component base. There are many modifications: from fuel equipment and brake elements to the engine and gearbox.
