The Korean brand has turned the concept car of the same name, shown last fall in Los Angeles, into a production model. The marketable Kia EV3 is positioned as a practical electric car that combines environmental friendliness, technology and design elements of its big brother EV9 with reduced dimensions close to the Hyundai Creta.

The production EV3 looks almost exactly like last year’s show car. He got elements of modern Kia style, first used on the “older” EV9. Among the features are a rethought Tiger Face front end with a scattering of LEDs, squared wheel arches and a block design of wheel rims. The aerodynamic drag coefficient, which was achieved thanks to the streamlined silhouette and sloping roof, is 0.267.

In the cabin there is a cluster with a digital instrument panel and a multimedia system screen with the same diagonal of 12.3 inches. Between them is a separate five-inch touchscreen for climate control.

The length, width and height of the EV3 are 4300, 1850 and 1560 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2680 mm

There are also physical buttons – on the steering wheel, door cards, under the screens and on the central tunnel, in which the retractable table is hidden. It can only be used while parked, and reclining front seat backrests will add comfort. In keeping with trends, recycled plastic and other eco-friendly materials are used in the upholstery of chairs, ceilings, armrests, rugs and decorative elements.

The volume of the rear trunk is 460 liters, the front – 25.

The EV3 is built on the E-GMP platform, like the EV9 and other electric cars from Kia and Hyundai. However, unlike top models, the small crossover has a 400-volt architecture rather than an 800-volt one.

At launch, the electric car will be available with one engine producing 204 horsepower (283 Nm) and two battery options. The standard capacity is 58.3 kilowatt-hours, the Long Range version is 81.4 kilowatt-hours. The latter will provide up to 600 kilometers of travel on the WLTP cycle, which is noticeably more than that of its classmates. In addition, with fast charging, the energy reserve can be replenished from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes.

The crossover accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.5 seconds. The maximum speed is 170 kilometers per hour.

EV3 sales will start in South Korea, and then the electric car will appear in Europe and the UK. According to preliminary data, the new product will cost approximately 30 thousand dollars, which is 2.7 million in rubles. In addition to the base version, Kia also showed a hot version of the GT-Line with a sportier design and different wheels. It will be brought to market later.
