Huawei’s vehicle lineup will soon expand with a new coupe-shaped crossover that will be available with BEV and EREV (range extender) powertrain options.

The first photos of the Luxeed R7 were published today on the Chinese social network Weibo.

The external design matches the style of other models from the Aito, Luxeed and Stelato brands. As expected, the shape of the LED lighting technology is similar to the S7 sedan. The same applies to ADAS sensors, including roof-mounted lidar, that help power Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 autopilot.

No interior photos of the R7 have been released, but earlier spy shots from China suggest it will have a similar interior to the S7. This means that the main place on the front panel will be occupied by a 15.6-inch display running on Huawei’s HarmonyOS system.

Luxeed is yet to announce the specifications of the R7, but according to information that has surfaced online, it will be 4950mm long and have a wheelbase of 2950mm. The dimensions are very close to the main competitors BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe, and also place the R7 between the Tesla Model Y and Model X.

The Luxeed R7 BEV and EREV will have an 800V architecture and use high-voltage silicon carbide batteries. Judging by the sedan, the coupe-shaped crossover will be available with a single electric motor producing 288 hp. (215 kW) or two electric motors with a power of 489 hp. (365 kW). The cruising range on the CLTC cycle will be 855 km.

The Luxeed R7 is expected to launch in China in the third quarter of the year. The price will probably be in the region of 300,000–400,000 yuan (from 3.8 to 5 million rubles).
