The car is being built by the German company HWA, which collaborates with Pagani and De Tomaso. The usual sedan 190 series is taken as a basis; it is dismantled to the ground, reinforced, and a carbon fiber body is hung on top. The restomod’s engine is also new – a V6 3.0 biturbo engine with an output of 450 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The engineering firm HWA has behind it projects such as the Apollo Intenza Emozione, Pagani Huayra R and De Tomaso P72. Compared to them, the HWA EVO sedan looks a little mundane, although you can’t tell from the level of sophistication and price. For the restomod Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5−16 Evo II you will have to pay at least 714 thousand euros, or 66.8 million rubles. Well, the circulation will be limited to 100 copies.

The EVO will be based on a regular Mercedes 190 series (W201), because no one in their right mind would put a collectible Evo II under the knife. The donor frame will be reinforced with an integrated frame, the suspension will be assembled on double wishbones with rigid spherical joints. The body of the restomod will be made of carbon fiber, and air channels will be laid in it to cool the engine, transmission and brakes.

At the same time, the sedan will get U-shaped anti-roll bars on both axles, electronically controlled shock absorbers and a modernized interior with Recaro buckets and modern electronics (digital instrumentation, climate control). The engine will also be new, and we are not talking about a naturally aspirated 2.5 “four”, as in the original Evo II. Instead, under the hood there will be a V6 3.0 biturbo engine (according to Top Gear – this is the M276 from the CLS 350) with an output of 450 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, equipped with a new ECU and a dry sump lubrication system.

The gearbox is a six-speed manual, connected to the engine through a carbon fiber driveshaft. The transaxle layout, when the transmission is located at the rear axle, will provide the restomod with ideal weight distribution, and the vehicle weight will be only 1350 kilograms. Of the dynamic characteristics, only the “maximum speed” is given: 270 kilometers per hour in the base and almost 300 with the optional Affalterbach package (it also includes an increase in output to 500 hp, carbon-ceramic brakes, a sports exhaust and a Track driving profile). The original Evo II, according to its passport, could reach 250 kilometers per hour and spent 6.7 seconds accelerating to “hundreds” of speed.
