Interfax reports that the Moskvich trucks will now be assembled in a new way – the full cycle assembly was launched by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and KamAZ General Director (acting as Moskvich’s technological partner) Sergei Kogogin. According to Sobyanin, this is the first car plant left by a foreign company (namely Renault), which was able to master welding, body painting, and also introduce enhanced anti-corrosion coating.

The full production cycle includes not only direct assembly, but also welding and painting of bodies. For the plant this means savings: for example, logistics costs will be reduced by a quarter. To achieve this, the company installed a robotic welding equipment system and created 490 new jobs. Before the official launch of full-cycle production, more than 70 test machines rolled off the production line and successfully passed all the necessary checks.

In addition, with the transition to a full cycle, customers will have the option of painting the car in two colors – black roof and body – in any of the five colors presented in the model line.

In the future, Moskvich intends to deepen the localization of current models, as well as develop its own car. In the meantime, let us remind you that slightly redesigned and renamed Chinese cars of the JAC brand are rolling off the assembly line of the capital’s plant.

These are three models – crossovers with indexes 3 and 3e, as well as liftback 6. They are JAC JS4, E40X and Sehol A5 Plus, respectively. By the end of 2024, they should be joined by two more crossovers, Moskvich 5, also known as Sehol X6/JAC JS5, and Moskvich 8 (Sehol X8 Plus).

Kogogin, in turn, touched upon the topic of adapting machines to Russian realities. “Today, a car supplied to the country often conditionally corresponds to our climatic conditions,” he noted. “In this car we solve all these problems with a reinforced anti-corrosion coating and the car’s ability to operate in low temperatures. I am confident that the localization program that we have outlined will be implemented in full, and then there will be a transition to our own metal and stamping.”
