The situation on the used car market in Russia does not please consumers. According to the expert automotive publication Klaxon, in the first two months of 2024, average prices for used cars again increased significantly – this time by 2.6%.

Now, on average across the country, a used car will cost the buyer approximately 1.2 million rubles. At the same time, domestic brands, due to the weak supply of the new automobile industry, remain extremely in demand in the secondary market, despite a price jump of 6-11% compared to the end of 2023. Most of all, Russians are interested in Lada cars – Priora, Granta, Kalina and the “classics” represented by 2107 and 2110. Of the foreign cars, the most in demand are Ford Focus, Hyundai Solaris and Toyota Camry. At the same time, in addition to VAZs, a significant increase in prices also affected cars of foreign brands such as Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen.

Thus, the shortage of new cars in the showrooms of official dealers due to sanctions restrictions continues to spur demand for used cars. And the rising costs of their restoration and repair forces sellers to raise price tags. Experts do not yet see factors that could reverse this negative trend for buyers, so in the coming months, resale will most likely continue to rise in price.

Previously, we published an article on our portal about changes in prices for new cars. And there is not only an increase in the price of cars, but also a decrease in prices for them.
