New Geely Atlas with a completely different design spotted in Russia

The photographs published by the Chinese Cars portal show the new generation Atlas, also known as Boyue L in China. Just the other day, this model went on sale in Kazakhstan, and now it is probably preparing for launch in Russia, although there is no official confirmation of this from Geely yet. Let’s figure out what kind of model this is and how it differs from the Atlas Pro familiar to Russians.

The debut of the crossover in China took place last summer. It has practically nothing in common with the original Geely Boyue L (Atlas Pro) model, except for the name. It moved from the old NL-3 car to the CMA platform on which the Tugella and Monjaro were built, surpassed its predecessor in size and became closer in technology to the Volvo. The feature of the second generation Atlas/Boyue L was a large frameless grille with narrow blocks of daytime running lights integrated into it. The Geely emblem is now illuminated, although illumination is only available for an additional fee.

The interior is also completely revised, but the main innovation is a vertical 13.2-inch tablet for the multimedia system. The instrument panel measures 10.25 inches diagonally, and there is also a 25.6-inch head-up display, at least in China.

In Kazakhstan, the new Atlas is offered with two power units to choose from: a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 174 horsepower and a two-liter engine that develops 218 horsepower. In both cases, the drive is front-wheel drive, and the gearbox is a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches. The crossover has front-wheel drive.

The “basic” Atlas accelerates to “hundreds” in 9.7 seconds, and the top speed is 190 kilometers per hour. The top-end crossover requires 8.2 seconds to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour, and its top speed is 215 kilometers per hour. Average fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 6.8 and 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers, respectively. Prices range from 13,990,000 to 14,990,000 tenge (2.67 – 2.86 million rubles at today’s exchange rate).
