Telegram channel No Limits, citing unnamed sources at the plant, reports that AvtoVAZ intends to reduce production volumes of Vesta with a manual transmission. Already in 2024, the ratio of versions with manual and automated transmission will be 80 and 20 percent, respectively, and in 2025 – 50 to 50 percent. The source indicated that the reason for this decision was that cars with a CVT are gaining popularity.

The Lada Vesta with a combination of the 1.8 Evo engine and a Chinese-made CVT (AvtoVAZ does not disclose the supplier for obvious reasons) went on sale in early spring. As of today, the initial cost of a sedan with such a combination of engine and gearbox is 1,588,900 rubles. This is 75 thousand rubles more expensive than the Lada Vesta with the same body and the same configuration, but with a 1.6-liter engine and a five-speed manual transmission.

Earlier, information appeared that by the end of 2024 – beginning of 2025, AvtoVAZ is planning several more innovations. Firstly, as an alternative to the CVT for the 1.8-liter engine, a Chinese-made six-speed manual gearbox is expected. Secondly, a modernization of the 16-valve 1.6-liter engine is planned. According to preliminary data, its output will be increased from 106 to approximately 120 horsepower. And then the 1.8 unit will become more powerful – it will produce 130 forces. In the more distant future, a turbo engine will appear in the AvtoVAZ range.

Rumors about the latter have been circulating since last year. Insiders suggest that it will be a 1.5-liter petrol turbo engine. Its power will be limited to 150 horsepower for tax benefits.
