The fantastic From the Vault series from GM Design continues: the latest concept car from Pontiac has just been shown online. It’s known as the G8, and its unveiling comes 15 years after GM announced the end of the Pontiac brand.

It was created by their California design studio in 2008 and was supposed to announce the future corporate identity of the brand. The G8 is a four-door coupe with Cadillac vibes with a massive grille and vertical headlights.

The rear end is reminiscent of the Solstice Roadster, with flying buttresses and huge exhaust tips.

Step inside and you’ll find a four-seater cabin with a full-length center console. Designers also added a three-spoke steering wheel, unique controls, and premium leather.

The original production G8 was a slightly redesigned Holden Commodore that featured rear-wheel drive and a V8 engine. The concept may have been intended for the Alpha or Zeta platform, although this has not been confirmed.

However, Bob Lutz was a big supporter of Pontiac, sticking with rear-wheel drive and emphasizing performance. The second-generation G6 was planned to be based on the Alpha platform, and the G8 concept shows what the production model could be like.
