The sports car will be presented at the end of this month. It will receive a gas-electric system based on a three-liter biturbo-opposite engine and boast a combined output of around 480 horsepower. The hybrid 911 will be just one version of the 992 generation two-door, and not an independent model. Later, other variants will appear in the Porsche range – for example, based on the top-end 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S.

The world premiere of the first ever Porsche 911 with a hybrid powertrain will take place on May 28. We still don’t have any details on its powertrain, but we do have a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 7:16.934. The sports car drove the track faster than the 911 Carrera S (450 hp, 530 Nm) and the BMW M4 CSL, whose results were 7:30.41 and 7:18.137, respectively. However, it lost to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS – 7:09,300. The test coupe was equipped with standard road tires and the optional aerodynamic body kit with a fixed wing.

According to racing driver and Porsche Ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, the hybrid has better grip, more power and more spontaneous response, which gives it an undeniable advantage on the track. The sports car will be sold not as an independent model, but as one of the modifications of the current 911. According to rumors, the basis of its power plant will be a 3.0 biturbo box, complemented by an electric motor mounted on the front axle. The combined output, again unofficially, will be close to 480 horsepower and the same Newton-meters of torque.

In the future, Porsche will also have more powerful gas-electric versions of the 911. For example, Autocar says that the launch of hybrid versions of the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S is on the agenda. However, there is no detailed information about them either. According to the same Autocar, the output of top sports cars will supposedly exceed 800 horsepower. At the same time, the 911 Turbo S now has 650 horsepower, while just the Turbo has 580.
