At the French Open Tennis Championship, which will be held from May 20 to June 9 on the courts of Roland Garros, a public display of the special version of the Renault 5 E-Tech Roland-Garros will take place. This hatchback features a textured film roof, exterior décor, and interior furnishings that reference technical sportswear fabrics, clay courts, and tennis rackets.
The electric hatchback Renault 5 E-Tech electric received the first special version called Roland-Garros. It is dedicated, as you might guess, to one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, which are traditionally held on the clay courts of the Roland Garros tennis complex in Paris. The French brand has become a partner of the French Open for the third year in a row and will provide 180 cars to transport guests, including electric models based on the Renault 5 from the 1970s.

The first public display of the Renault 5 E-Tech Roland Garros will take place at the Roland Garros French Open, but the cars will appear in showrooms only in 2025. Buyers will be offered four body colors: Pearl White, Midnight Blue, Starry Black and exclusive Matt Slate Grey. All this will be combined with a “satin chrome” roof surround, a “black textured film with textile trim” roof itself, and Roland-Garros logos on the doors.
The interior of the hatchback will be decorated with special light gray textiles, inspired by technical fabrics for sewing sportswear. A platform for charging a smartphone, into which red clay was mixed at the production stage to give it a characteristic color, and a transmission lever wrapped in the manner of a tennis racket, will remind you of the heated battles on clay courts.
Future Renault models will use Volvo and Geely platform
Renault 5 has front-wheel drive. There are three power plants to choose from, but which one the special version of Roland Garros will get is still unknown. There are options for 70 (95 hp, 215 Nm), 90 (120 hp, 225 Nm) and 100 kilowatts (150 hp, 245 Nm). The batteries are assembled from NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) type cells, support charging with a power of up to 100 kilowatts, can supply energy back to the network and allow a range of up to 400-500 kilometers, depending on the capacity. The most powerful electric car accelerates to the first “hundred” in less than eight seconds, from 80 to 120 kilometers per hour in seven. Maximum speed is 150 kilometers per hour.
