The large Renault Grand Koleos crossover recently debuted at the South Korean Motor Show. The name emphasizes the connection with the Renault Koleos car, but hints at the next stage of the model’s evolution.

The modern design of the 4.78-meter crossover confirms this impression: clearly defined headlights, an interesting window line, combined rear lights. The interior is decorated with three 12.3-inch displays.

The Renault Grand Koleos’s pedigree is complicated. After all, this car is planned for production exclusively at the Renault Korea plant, a division previously known as Renault Samsung.

The car is also built on the CMA platform, once developed by the Chinese company Geely together with Volvo. In fact, this is a slightly redesigned Geely Monjaro, so popular in Russia.

Renault Grand Koleos can offer a powerful 211-horsepower gasoline turbo engine, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, robotic or traditional automatic transmission. As an alternative, there will be a 245-horsepower hybrid based on a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine and an electric motor. True, the hybrid can only be with front-wheel drive.

Sales of the new product in South Korea will start in August of this year; the possibility of export deliveries is still in question.
