The American startup, which has faced financial difficulties due to falling demand for electric cars, is not going to give up. Volkswagen recently decided to invest five billion dollars in Rivian, and against this background, the brand revealed plans to expand the model range: it will include as many as five new models, including three mass-produced ones. The latter are expected to be built with the participation of a partner from Germany.
The first column shows the vehicle that Rivian will build on the Gen 2 platform, which it will share with the updated R1T and R1S. Judging by the lineup on the Gen 1 “trolley,” it could be an improved delivery van like the EDV, but the shape of the covered model is more like an SUV. However, the images are repeated, so this may be a placeholder.

Next up are the new R2 and R3, unveiled in March, with another mystery model. It, like the crossovers located underneath, will be based on the mid-size MSP architecture. We can assume that this will be a more affordable pickup truck than the R1T. The price remains to be seen, but the R2, deliveries of which will begin in 2026, is promised to cost $45,000—3.9 million in ruble terms.
Volkswagen will release an electric car for less than two million rubles Rivian introduced the R1S SUV and the new generation R1T pickup truck Research: 46% of electric car buyers in the US will return to internal combustion engines
And the three cars from the last column will be mass-produced: they may be created jointly with Volkswagen.
This week it became known that Volkswagen will purchase Rivian’s $1 billion convertible bond and later invest another $4 billion. Rivian will create a joint venture with Volkswagen, which will develop platforms for electric vehicles and give the Germans access to existing technologies.
