Lipetsk plant Motorinvest has launched production of the hybrid SUV i-Space, TASS reports, citing the company’s managing partner Andrey Reznikov. According to him, Motorinvest has managed to obtain Vehicle Type Approval (VTA), which allows it to set up assembly and begin sales. The i-Space is planned to be launched on the market next week.

Evolute i-Space will be offered in two trim levels. The first to go on sale will be the more expensive one, priced at around 2.9 million rubles, taking into account the promotional benefit. It will be followed by a slightly simpler version for 2.8 million.

i-Space (aka Dongfeng Fengon E5) is powered by a hybrid unit with a total capacity of 178 horsepower. An electric motor is connected to the wheels, and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine acts as a generator that recharges a battery with a capacity of 17.5 kilowatt-hours. The total range of the crossover is 1,150 kilometers, and the fuel consumption is 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers. On electric traction, the car can travel up to 87 kilometers.
