Sales of the three-row Chery Tiggo 8 crossover have ended in Russia

The model has disappeared from the official website of the Chinese brand. The Chinese Cars portal, citing the Chery representative office, reports that the crossover, which until recently remained one of the most affordable seven-seater cars on the Russian market, was removed as part of a “systematic update of the model range.” “The target audience is paying attention to the more technological crossover Tiggo 8 Pro, so Tiggo 8 is leaving the Russian market,” Chery said.

Chery Tiggo 8 debuted in Russia in 2020, and in 2022 it underwent a planned update: the model changed externally and lost its modification with a two-liter engine. Since then, the crossover has been offered with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch robotic transmission. At the time of its exclusion from the model line, Chery Tiggo 8 was one of the cheapest seven-seat crossovers that can be purchased in Russia — it cost 2.6 million rubles.

It is already sold in Russia. In the summer, another brand from China will appear in Russia.

In a conversation with Chinese Cars, one of the Chery dealers said that sales of the model ended several months ago. According to the seller, the place of the retired crossover will be taken by Tiggo 8 Pro Max, which, taking into account discounts and special offers, can be purchased for a comparable 2.55 million rubles. At the same time, according to the price list on the Chery website, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max in the basic configuration, even taking into account all the benefits, costs more – 2.85 million rubles.

The dealer also shared insider information about why Chery actually removed the Tiggo 8 from the local model line, and its version differs from the official one announced by Chery. He said that there were many complaints about the model from owners. In particular, customers were dissatisfied with the dynamic characteristics of the car.

There is another probable reason why Chery no longer sells the Tiggo 8 in Russia. It is expected that this model will be “registered” at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, where cars under the Xcite brand are produced, by the fall of 2024. It is predicted to have a new name – Xcite X-Cross 8.
