The Chinese Cars portal drew attention to the fact that JAC certified the model promised to the Russians with the T9 index. From the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA), it follows that the new product will be offered with a powerful turbo engine, automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case. The list of equipment will include parking sensors, all-round cameras and a sunroof.

The T9 is a mid-size body-on-frame pickup truck measuring just over 5.3 meters in length, which has been in production since 2021 and, in addition to China, is sold in South Africa. They promised to start shipping the model to Russian dealerships in the first quarter of 2024, which is just ending. According to OTTS, the new product will be offered with a 224-horsepower gasoline engine, although a different output was previously mentioned – 231 horsepower. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic.

In China, T9 costs from 131.8 to 194.8 thousand yuan, which in terms of today’s exchange rate is equal to 1.6-2.4 million rubles. However, in addition to the mentioned gasoline modification, the model is also available on the domestic market with a 170-horsepower diesel engine, “mechanics” and mono-wheel drive.

Advertisements for the sale of JAC T9 can already be found on classification sites – pickup trucks were supplied to Russia individually through parallel imports, and prices for the gasoline version reached 4.5 million rubles. For comparison: the “junior” JAC T8 Pro pickup, which is officially sold in the country, costs 3.2 thousand rubles. We can assume that the price of the T9 will approach or even exceed four million.

In addition to the T9 pickup truck, the Chinese brand promised Russians the budget single-volume M4, which will go on sale in the second quarter, the JS6 hybrid crossover (third quarter) and the RF8 premium minivan (fourth quarter). Configurations and modifications of versions for Russia are under development.
