In China, at the Guangzhou Motor Show, prices for the second generation model were revealed. Three configurations are available, for which you will have to pay from 180 to 220 thousand yuan (equivalent to 25-31 thousand dollars). For comparison, a comparable Tank 300 costs from 200 to 227 thousand yuan, but a whole range of “premium” options for the new BAIC BJ40 SUV for the Great Wall concern are not available.
The Beijing BJ40 is a frame SUV with a ground clearance of 230 millimeters, a fording depth of 750 millimeters and approach/departure/ramp angles of 37/35/27 degrees. Length/width/height of the new product is 4790/1940/1929 millimeters, wheelbase is 2760 millimeters. In terms of overall dimensions and maneuverability, it is on par with the Tank 300.

The BJ40’s interior is more modern and richer: the doors are frameless, the glass is double-layered, the front passenger has a retractable footrest and a separate huge tablet. Other features include a double-leaf fifth door and window switches on the window sills, a la Land Rover. BAIC did not surprise with multi-contour front seats.
The technology is simple: Beijing engineers relied on a classic design with independent front suspension, solid rear axle, rigidly connected all-wheel drive with reduction gear and cross-axle differential locks. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine (234 horsepower, 395 Nm) coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The previous generation Beijing BJ40 is already being assembled and sold in Russia, but prices are still high: from 4.35 million rubles! The new all-terrain vehicle is not being exported, although in Russia the model could compete with the Tank 300. But our country will be officially supplied with the “older” Beijing BJ60, which in its homeland comes with a gasoline or diesel power plant.
