At a press conference following the results of 2023, Maxim Sokolov made it clear that the release of trim levels without airbags is a market request. “There are problems everywhere, there are challenges everywhere – we solve them,” said the top manager in response to a question about the production of simplified cars. Maxim Sokolov emphasized that Lada Aura for officials will not enter the market without airbags.
The head of AvtoVAZ hinted that one should not count on the release of Lada cars with more than two airbags in 2024. Thus, versions with side airbags will remain a thing of the past. Let us recall that production Lada cars with four airbags appeared in the spring of 2013: then side airbags were added to the luxury versions of the Priora.
At the moment, the Niva Legend and Niva Travel families are produced without airbags, and there are no airbags on the initial versions of Granta. Insiders managed to capture a simplified Vesta NG without airbags, but AvtoVAZ does not sell such cars yet. The start of sales of the ultra-budget Granta without seals, linings and “extra” handles has not been announced either.
Production of the Lada Aura for officials and deputies is scheduled for September 2024. The authorities have already begun to purchase AvtoVAZ products for the people’s representatives: so far the choice has fallen on the top configuration of the “regular” Vesta NG.
