As RBC writes, citing data from the auditing and consulting network FinExpertiza and the Federal Tax Service, last year there were 19.8 thousand cars in the country worth more than 10 million rubles. This is 22 percent more than a year earlier and 2.5 times more than in 2019. That is, on average, Russians added 3.9 thousand vehicles to the country’s luxury car fleet.

Despite the sanctions, which cut off the official receipts of most luxury foreign cars, their number has increased sharply. In 2022, 12.8 thousand of such cars were registered with individuals, and another seven thousand were registered with legal entities.

Most cars are more expensive than 10 million rubles in Moscow – more than 40 percent or 8.2 thousand. In second and third places are St. Petersburg and the Moscow region with two and 1.6 thousand cars.

In other regions there are no more than a thousand, but the growth of the premium fleet was noticed in 76 regions. Kalmykia is the leader in this indicator: the low base effect gave an increase of 6.3 times – from four cars to 25.

At the same time, taxes on luxury cars have also increased, faster than the number of cars themselves. So, last year their owners paid 3.34 billion rubles, which is 31 percent more than in 2021. The average tax amount was 169 thousand rubles.

In the summer it was reported that owners of “premium” properties are increasingly renting them out. This year, 55 percent more people turned to services with such an offer than last year, which experts explain by rising maintenance costs, as well as the desire to close loans or receive passive income.
