The official spoke about the new capabilities of cameras for automatically recording violations

Moscow drivers are already accustomed to the fact that road cameras record not only speeding. They receive letters with fines for a number of other violations of traffic rules. Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov told how cameras have changed over the past 10 years and what offenses they can record. Drivers should now be more careful.

Thus, Liksutov reported a threefold reduction in the number of accidents with injured people over the past ten years. He gives much of the credit to cameras for forcing drivers to follow traffic rules in particularly dangerous areas.

According to representatives of the Department of Transport, cameras with a 360-degree view are installed on the Moscow Ring Road. They record both front and rear license plates of vehicles. The number of fines issued for driving on the side of the road has decreased. Cameras that detect such offenses are installed in places where drivers most often prefer to overtake in this way.

Now you can also get a fine for violating the rules for passing tram stops. Drivers must stop before the yellow line if the “Attention Passenger” sign is illuminated on the rear window of the tram. You can continue driving only after it goes out and there are no people crossing it on the road. One of these cameras was installed on Svobody Street, where there were many casualties.

Fines are now also coming for parking on traffic islands. Vehicles located on them block the view of other traffic participants.
