The Ministry of Industry and Trade is already discussing the measures necessary to speed up the project’s implementation with the manufacturer. This was stated in an interview with TASS at the Innoprom exhibition by the head of the ministry, Anton Alikhanov. At the presentation of the new Volgas in May, it was reported that production would be set up by the end of the year, and three models should be put on the assembly line in Nizhny Novgorod at once.

“The company is currently negotiating with its partners. And we would like to shift the program they presented to us a little to the left, to make it more intense,” Alikhanov said.

Modern Volgas were presented in May of this year. The initial line of the brand, the name of which was written in Latin, included three models: the D-class sedan Volga C40, the C-class crossover Volga K30 and the D-class crossover Volga K40.

The project partner was not named, but judging by the photos, it was the Chinese Changan. The cars differed from the “donors” by their original radiator grille with vertical slats and the GAZ nameplate, as well as a multimedia system with Russian services.
