The Russian-assembled Forthing crossover turned out to be cheaper than expected

Forthing T5 is being prepared to enter the market, the production of which is organized at the facilities of the Kaliningrad Avtotor. This is a crossover with a length of 4.54 meters, which the company itself is positioning as a family one – it is slightly larger than its closest competitors: Geely Coolray, Changan CS35 Plus, Haval Jolion and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro. Ixen Motors Rus, which represents the interests of Forthing in Russia, said that the model costs 400 thousand rubles less than originally planned, so its price is within two million rubles.

The Forthing T5 has a McPherson front suspension and an independent multi-link rear suspension. This distinguishes the crossover from the listed competitors, which have a semi-independent torsion beam at the rear.

The T5 is powered by a 144-horsepower 4J15T gasoline turbo engine manufactured by Mitsubishi, which runs on AI-92 gasoline. It is paired with a six-speed hydromechanical automatic, which the company itself considers a competitive advantage, since most competitors are equipped with robotic gearboxes or CVTs.

At the start of sales, the T5 will be available in a single configuration: the seats are upholstered in eco-leather, the front two seats are heated, the multimedia system is Russified, there is a rear view camera, keyless entry, an electric tailgate, rear parking sensors, a built-in video recorder and six speakers.

Exclusive for Russia: the all-wheel drive Forthing T5 Evo will go on sale. For the Forthing T5 Evo, three design options will be offered in Russia. Production of three models of the Forthing brand will be launched in Russia.

Initially, it was planned to sell Forthing T5 at a price of 2.3 million rubles, but the brand’s distributor in Russia revised the strategy and increased production volumes. Due to subsidy programs, the initial cost was reduced by 400 thousand rubles, to 1.9 million.

In addition to the T5, two other Forthing models received registration on Avtotor – the T5 Evo crossover and the M4 Yacht minivan.
